08/09/2003: Suspected members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) bombed five oil wells in Colombia’s Putumayo Province. The bombings resulted in fires that required two weeks of work to extinguish. The fires caused extensive damage to the wells and to the surrounding ecosystem. No group claimed responsibility for the bombings.
