1/15/2003: A bomb exploded at the Jingbian Hotel in Yulin city, Shaanxi province, China. At least one person was killed and another seven were injured in the blast that destroyed portions of the hotel and damaged surrounding buildings. The device was homemade, consisting of chemical fertilizer. No group claimed responsibility for the incident and the specific motive is unknown.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
