Incident Summary:

01/10/2003: A public market in Iligan, Philippines narrowly averted disaster when an improvised explosive device was found and disarmed before it could detonate. Civilian Loloy Tampos, a vegetable vendor at the Palao public market that was targeted, reported the bomb to police who were able to detonate the bomb safely. The attempted bombing was suspected of being the work of members of the Special Operations Group of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
