Incident Summary:

12/18/2002: Suspected members of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Fighting (GSPC) attacked an attachment of Algerian soldiers returning to their barracks on a road near Sahel Boubarak, Algeria. The assailants detonated a high-powered homemade bomb targeting the patrol before firing their machine guns at the soldiers. In total, two soldiers were killed and four were wounded.
