Incident Summary:

09/15/2002: At approximately 12:30pm local time, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Sakeena Itoo survived an assassination attempt in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, while on her way to Danev-Kandimarg for an election rally. Unknown militants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) and open fired on the Minister’s motorcade; one person in the convoy was killed and two others were wounded in the attack.
