Incident Summary:

09/11/2002: Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, the Kashmir Law Minister, was assassinated at an election rally in Kupwara, India, by suspected Islamic militants. At least two other gunmen in the crowd also opened fire simultaneously, killing the Minister's two bodyguards and wounding the five others, who were standing nearby.
