Incident Summary:

8/9/2002: An explosion occurred at the warehouse of Afghan Construction and Logistics Unit just outside of Jalalabad, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. At least 20 people were killed and another 80 were wounded. 50 private homes were destroyed and 500 homes were damaged. In addition, a portion of the city lost electricity due to the explosion. Authorities are unsure whether the blast was an accident caused by explosives stored at the warehouse or whether it was an intentional bombing.
