Incident Summary:
05/01/2002: Ten members of the group Porattom, which was reported to be the cultural wing of the Maoist Cultural Center (MCC), stormed the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) consultancy office in Kerala, India, destroying almost all of its property. A Bangladeshi staff worker was assaulted during the attack as well. The attack was said to be a protest against the ADB who was about to extend a large loan to the Kerala State. The attackers made a false claim of having bombs before they were arrested.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
There must be evidence of an intention to coerce, intimidate, or convey some other message to a larger audience (or audiences) than the immediate victims.
