Additional Information This was the second attack in a month on US interests in Nepal. On November 29, 2001 Maoists planted two bombs at a Coca-Cola factory on Kathmandu's outskirts, and caused damage but no casualties. At the time of the attack the United States had steadfastly backed Nepal's crack-down on Maoist rebels, who broke a four-month ceasefire November 24, 2001 with a spate of attacks on the army and police.
