10/25/2001: A bomb exploded at a Hindu festival in Gauripur, Assam state, India. The device was hidden under a stage designed to worship Durga Puja, the goddess of justice. At least four people were killed and at least another 24 were injured in the blast. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack; however, authorities suspect that National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) was involved.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
