7/9/2001: Suspected members of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) invaded the home of a family in Ziana, Algeria. The assailants shot seven members of the family, killing six and wounding one, before setting the house on fire. Additionally, the Islamic extremists abducted one of the family's daughters. The fate of the kidnapped victim remains unknown.
