Incident Summary:

05/27/2001: At approximately 9:00 am local time, a car bomb exploded in a parking lot located on a main shopping street and about 20 meters from the police headquarters in West Jerusalem. The bomb lightly injured two people. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was meant to mark Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon one year earlier.
