1/9/2001: Members of the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN) kidnapped 56 people at a roadblock near Barbosa, Antioquia, Colombia. Government forces attacked the guerrillas on January 10, 2001, and freed the captives. One assailant was killed; all of the hostages were released unharmed.
