Incident Summary:

9/23/2000: A convoy of vehicles carrying members of the opposition United National Party (UNP) was shot at outside of Kandy, Central province, Sri Lanka. The tires of the vehicle were shot at and one member of the party was hit in the face with a rifle butt. The parliamentary candidates state that the attackers were government supporters and that the police did not intervene to stop the attack.
