Incident Summary:

09/19/2000: Two soldiers were killed and three others injured in an attack on a People's National Army [ANP] patrol in the municipality of Beni Amrane, in Boumerdes Province [some 50 km east of Algiers]. The attack, which was carried out by detonating a bomb while an army patrol was passing, was followed by an exchange of gunfire between the attackers and the soldiers. Islamic militants were suspected of perpetrating the attack.
