Incident Summary:

09/03/2000: Individuals belonging to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fired a number of M-79 grenades onto a farm in Datu Benasing village, Pingkawayan town, in Cotabato province. Two farmers were injured by shrapnel caused by a grenade hitting their farm equipment. An Army spokesperson suspected that the incident occurred to intimidate farmers to paying MILF protection money, in light of a series of similar incidents in the area.
