Incident Summary:

8/15/2000: Zurab Achba, an advisor for the United Nations Human Rights Sukhumi office and a leader of the Abkhaz People's Forum, was shot and killed in the center of Sukhumi, Abkhazia, Georgia. Achba was driving home when unidentified assailants opened fire on his car. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident and the motive is unknown. Achba was a former deputy of the Abkhaz Supreme Soviet.
