Incident Summary:

8/11/2000: A group of armed men set up a roadblock near El-Aouana, in Jijel province, Algeria. They opened fire on a family returning to Algiers from a beach outing. A pregnant mother and her three children were killed in the attack. The father, a professor at the University of Algiers, was critically injured. One seven-year-old child escaped the attack. No group has claimed responsibility.
