Incident Summary:

02/16/2000: Tajik Deputy Minister Shamsullo Dzhabirov was killed by a car bomb. Makhamadsaid Ubaidullayev, the mayor of Dushanbe, Tajikistan's capital city, was injured by the blast as well. No group claimed responsibility for the bombing, but it was suspected that an Islamic anti-government group was behind the attack and that the mayor of Dushanbe was the intended target.
