Incident Summary:
10/05/1999: Abdulcafer Turkoglu, a Turkish-born son of an immigrant from the Xinxianj province in northwestern China, murdered of Tang Xin in his restaurant, which was called Chinese Kitchen, in the Bakirkoy district of Istanbul, Turkey. Turkoglu was detained by police on October 9, 1999 and confessed to the incident. Turkojlu was also a known member of the East Turkestan Liberation Organization.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
There must be evidence of an intention to coerce, intimidate, or convey some other message to a larger audience (or audiences) than the immediate victims. Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
