10/3/1999: A bomb exploded in the Christian Maronite church in Diwanah, Beirut, Lebanon. The bomb had been left in a handbag and when the church deacon opened the bag to inspect it, it exploded, killing him. Authorities believe the incident was intended to undermine security.
