Incident Summary:

07/08/1999: The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) attacked the village of Valparaiso, Colombia, using explosives and automatic weapons. The attack, which destroyed a house and badly damaged the targeted police station, killed 19 police officers, four soldiers and two children. Police, who were held up in the station awaiting military assistance, resisted the rebels for at least four days, but the outcome of the incident was unknown.
