06/20/1999: In Russia, unknown assailants with automatic weapons fired on Ibragim Khultygov, chairman of Chechnya's National Security Service, while he was in his home. Khultgov escaped unharmed by hiding behind a wall during the attack, which he believed in revenge for a recent operation carried out by the National Security Service, in which a powerful oil mafia was neutralized and a large quantity of weapons were seized.
