Incident Summary:

06/13/1999: At least eight peasants were murdered by Shining Path (SL) members in the town of Azul de Magdalena, Amazonas Region, Peru. The peasants were shot in the head after being accused of serving as stool pigeons for the Army, and local citizens were forced to watch in order to reportedly deter them from joining self-defense groups.
