Incident Summary:

02/04/1999: Over 7,000 barrels of oil were spilled as a result of an attack by suspected National Liberation Army (NLA) members on the northeastern part of the Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline - Colombia's main oil transportation line - near the border with Venezuela in Arauca, Colombia. Pumping activities were suspended until Ecopetrol, owner of the transportation line, could put out the fires and repair the damage.
