09/08/1998: A powerful car bomb exploded at a packed market in southern Algeria, killing at least one person and injuring 15 others. The bomb exploded during a weekly market at Rahoui, near the town of Tiaret, 188 miles south of the capital. No group clamed responsibility for the attack, but Islamic militants were suspected.
