05/01/1998: Mr. Valentin Vlasov, the Russian president's Plenipotentiary Representative in Chechnya, was kidnapped by five unknown perpetrators on the Baku-Rostov highway, between Grozny and Nazran. Vlasov was held for six months and twelve days before being released, unharmed.
