Incident Summary:

02/23/1998: At least 46 soldiers and sailors were presumed killed after Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide boats smashed into a Navy convoy off the northern coast of Sri Lanka. At least eight small boats packed with explosives rammed and blew up against a Navy cargo ship and a landing craft carrying 108 soldiers and sailors. Both vessels sank after the attack.
