08/02/1985: Three Sinhalese Bhikku Buddhist monks and three civilians were shot to death by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) cadres in the Polonnaruwa-Thirukkondaiadimadu area of Sri Lanka. The incident occurred while the victims were worshipping at the Ruhunu Somavathiya Temple. The specific motive is unknown.
