Incident Summary:

02/13/1976: Assailants attacked General Murtala Mohammed in a coup attempt at the Alagbon junction in Ikoyi neighborhood, Lagos, Nigeria. Mohammed, the 4th Head of State of Nigeria, and his driver were killed in the incident. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to a coup led by Buka Suka Dimka of the Nigerian Army Physical Training Corps.
