Eight Forty Eight: Homegrown Terrorism

START Director Interviewed on Chicago Public Radio Regarding Homegrown Terrorism

START Director Gary LaFree was interviewed on Chicago Public Radio program Eight Forty Eight, discussing homegrown terrorism and its increasing salience, evident by the recent arrest of U.S. Citizen and Chicago resident David Headley and his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai Attacks. Topics such as the rise of complex transnational plots and growing concerns regarding attitudes in the American Muslim community are also discussed. LaFree ends the interview discussing challenges facing American law enforcement in disrupting terrorist plots and how their success can also lead to a difficult assessment of the magnitude of the dangers the nation faces from homegrown attacks.
