Going Darker: New Trends on Online Terrorism

The Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies is hosting a lecture event on Tuesday, February 13, 12:30-2:00 pm, Room 2114 at H. J. Patterson HallPlease note that this event is not hosted by START. GIIS Vising Professor and a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center, Dr. Gabriel Weimann from Haifa University, Israel, will speak about online terrorism. Lunch will be provided.

Dr. Weimann examines the relationships between modern terrorists and the new media, how terrorists use the online platforms, how democracies can respond to the challenge, and explores the prices of various measures. He is a world-leading expert in the field and has published nine books and more than 180 research papers and research reports in scientific journals. Dr. Weimann has been a visitor at many universities throughout the country, including Canada and China.
