Graduate Research Travel Award

Graduate Research Travel Award

START is dedicated to supporting academic research at all levels. START offers a travel grant program for current graduate students working on issues related to terrorism and responses to terrorism. 

Students may apply through our website for research support grants of $500 per award. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through the summer of 2017.


Program Requirements: 

Award recipients must report their research findings for the funded project to START though our standard form (to be provided to students upon acceptance) within 6-months of accepting the award. 

Application Requirements:

Applicants must be a graduate student enrolled at least half-time at an accredited institution in Fall 2017 and must be conducting or presenting research that will advance the knowledge about terrorism and/or responses to terrorism.  

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed application form found HERE; 

  • A CV;

  • An unofficial graduate transcript; 

  • A statement of research and nature of travel (1000 words max.);

  • A faculty letter of support for the project; and,

  • An acceptance letter for a paper at a particular conference, if conference travel is requested.
